Whirlwind Theatre Productions

After two years of hiatus, Whirlwind Theatre Productions is thrilled to be producing a brand new show by Vancouver writer/performer Christopher Cook.  COMPASSION FOR KILLERS will be running July 28th – 30th with a preview performance on July 27th!  This production will be taking place on Pacific Theatre’s unique alley-style stage to help with the intimate telling of this story of violence, consequence, and the journey home.

Rehearsals are well under way and we just had our publicity photoshoot yesterday with photographer Colin Ivor Mills.  This show is going to be fantastic show so if you want to  reserve your tickets, just e-mail info@whirlwindtheatre.com!  We hope to see you there!

Preparations for the upcoming performance of DRINKS WITH FRIENDS are well underway.  Lots has happened since the last post.  We’ve been doing some clown workshops and improvs a few times a week so that we can have a final version of the script by August 10th.  It is in a good place right now, but it could still use some work – so that’s the focus of this week.

We also recently had a photoshoot with photographer Colin Mills to get some media shots together.  It was so much fun and we got a number of great shots from it.  We decided to take advantage of the beautiful and take some pictures outside.  A very big thanks goes out to Chris Cook and his family for letting us use their beautiful home for the location of the shoot.  More photos will come, but here are a few that I really like to give you a little taste for now.

I am proud to announce that Whirlwind Theatre Productions now has a LOGO.  Hamilton graphic artist, Josh Gordon, has created an AWESOME logo for us.  I hope you like it as much as I do.  

Yes – it’s true!  There’s now a website and blog for the upcoming production of Drinks With Friends.  Everyone can thank the amazing James Ladan for this success.  I’m still learning about this stuff, so without his help, who knows if a website would have ever existed.  THANKS JAMES!

A lot of things have happened since the decision was made to finally put this show on its feet.  Rewriting a show that was originally written over 3 years ago, has been a lot of fun but more challenging than I ever would have thought.  That said, we’ve had 2 readings now and things seem to be on the right track!  A poster concept was created by a friend of mine from home – the ridiculously talented Nick Thornborrow.  I am also happy to announce other members of the team including Chris Cook (director), Linsy Rotar (designer),  and Christie Maxson (technician).  Together we are going to turn this crazy idea into something we can all be proud of.    And of course I need to credit Kathy Parsons and fellow Fringer Tina Teeninga for all of their help and advice regarding the dramaturgy of this piece.  THANK YOU ALL for joining me on this adventure!  I can’t wait to see where things go from here!
